Synopsis:

The Forgotten Ruins is a story-driven and  roguelite game about an adventurers looking for a hidden treasure within the ruins. Play as protagonist with their teammates: Albert, Azraelle, and Cassey. The party took the challenge following the Book of Forgotten, and got the treasure in the process. Now they have to return to the surface ...

Gameplay:

You have to reach the exit of the ruins while you must sacrifice your powers to open the gate on each floor. There are no item to revive the character. Buttons will explained in the game. Playtime is around 1.5 - 2 hours.

Reversed Progress:

  • Your characters level will be decreased each floor.
  • Your main character will lost some skill to open the portal.
  • The flashback is written in backward.

The core purpose of this game  is as an experimental material using a story format and gameplay that are still rarely made.

Just finished, and it did in fact take me two hours pretty much exactly. The narrative was super unique and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The whole concept of becoming weaker as you progress was really cool to see, although a bit overwhelming at first since you start with soooo many abilities haha. Also, the effects and the music were fantastic!

Spoilers below:

Almost everything was a pro for me, but besides a few typos I did have one thing that seemed like it could be improved. The last couple floors were an absolute nightmare, and not because they were too hard. There were just... SO MANY ENEMIES! Perhaps that's what you wanted though, and in that case, cool. It's just that it felt like a huge mundane task and didn't really feel all that rewarding. But, I guess that's what happens when the final floor is the first floor haha. Thank you for sharing your game, it was fun!
